Prof. Dr. Roald Bahr is Professor of Sports Medicine at the Department of Sports Medicine of the Norwegian School of Sports Sciences, Chairman of the Research Center for Sports Trauma in Oslo and President of the Medical Department at the National Olympic Training Center of Norway. Prof. Dr. Bahr is also an authorized sports medicine physician of the Norwegian Society of Sports Medicine, as well as an associate of the American College of Sports Medicine. He is currently working as a team doctor of the beach volleyball team. He is the current president of the National Council for Physical Activity, the former president of the Norwegian Society for Sports Medicine and the former president, secretary and member of the FIVB Medical Commission. He is a member of the IOC Medical Commission – Medical and Scientific Group. His main area of research is sports injury prevention, and with several books he has published more than 350 original research articles, review papers and book chapters, with citation index (H-index)> 50. He is the editor-in-chief of the widely known textbook “ IOC Manual of Sports Injuries”, which was published in seven languages, as well as the „IOC Handbook of Sports Injury Prevention”.

Prof. Dr. Roald Bahr, Professor of Sports Medicine at the Department of Sports Medicine of the Norwegian School of Sports Sciences, Chairman of the Research Center for Sports Trauma in Oslo, Chief of the Medical Department at the National Olympic Training Center of Norway and Head of Sports Injury and Disease Prevention Program, has held lecture on “The Norwegian Olympic & Paralympic Screening and Monitoring Program – what is it, why do we do it and does it help Norway win medals”, within the activities of the Belgrade Sports Medicine E Forum, on May 21, 2020.
Prof. Dr. Roald Bahr is a world-renowned scientist in the field of developing screening programs in the field of prevention of diseases and injuries in elite athletes population, which has been cited more than 35,000 times in the literature. He is also the editor-in-chief of the widely known textbook “IOC Manual of Sports Injuries”, which was published in seven languages, as well as the „IOC Handbook of Sports Injury Prevention”.
Within his presentation, prof. Bahr presented the latest recommendations and guidelines that the Olympic Federation of Norway applies in its preparatory programs and the positive results that this practice has brought. The lecture was rounded with a very active online discussion in which domestic and foreign experts in the field of sports medicine and orthopedics resolved the doubts they have in their own practice through numerous questions. The structure of the participants was truly diverse, both according to their occupation and the location from which they joined, from London, Oslo, Riga, through Belgrade and Thessaloniki, to Doha and Dubai.
